Whoever is reading this —

If you're here, you're moving. Or you're thinking about it. Either way, I want to tell you a few things before you decide who's going to carry your stuff.

I started this company in the year 2000. I had one truck, and I worked it myself. Today there are more trucks and a crew of people I trust, but I still answer the phone when it rings, and I still go to most of the jobs. That's not a marketing line. That's just how the company runs.

Most movers will quote you one number on the phone and bill you a different number at the end. I don't. The number I give you is the number you pay. If I'm wrong about how long it'll take, that's my problem, not yours.

The rate is two hundred dollars an hour for a two-person crew, in a fully-equipped truck, anywhere inside a hundred miles of Los Angeles. That's blankets, dollies, basic assembly, all of it. A four-bedroom with stairs needs four people and costs more. If you're going further than a day's drive (more on long-distance moves here) I'll quote flat after we walk through what you've got. Specialty pieces — a piano, a safe, art — that's its own kind of work and starts at two hundred and fifty (more on specialty here). The full schedule of rates lives on the services page if you want to read it plainly.

What you won't see from us: late arrivals (9 a.m. means 9 a.m., not "morning window"), hidden fees, or anyone in your house who doesn't know what they're doing. What you will see: the same trucks every morning, mostly the same crew, quotes that don't change at the curb, and a person on the phone who isn't a salesman. That's me.

A woman named Sarah wrote us a note once that I think about a lot. “First move in my life that didn't make me want to scream.” I keep it on the wall in the office. That's the bar. — Sarah M., on a 2-bedroom move in LA

If you want a quote, call. The number is at the bottom of this letter. I pick up Monday morning to Saturday afternoon, or I'll call you back the same day. If you'd rather write, the contact page has every way to reach us.

I'm not the cheapest mover in Los Angeles. I'm probably not the biggest. What I am, is the one your friend should have told you to call. If you give us the job and we do right by you, I'd appreciate it if you'd be that friend for someone else.

Thank you for reading this far.
